When defining the string names for text expanders, is it by design where the name cannot contain spaces?

When I named the string with spaces and ran it nothing happened. When I removed the spaces and ran it, it then it worked.

Thank you,

Hi JGM, typically you would not use spaces within the abbreviation but it should work. I tried:

String: a b
Type: Send
Substitute aaaaa bbbbb

and it works as expected. However a suggestion will not pop-up when the "Display suggestions when you type" is enabled because Space resets a word recognition.
